Dark Hunter A Zeta Cartel Novel Book 4 edition by AJ Adams Romance eBooks
I do love AJ Adams. She can write cartel like no one else. She draws you in with amazing, dark stories. Rip is a wonderfully, damaged hero. I loved watching him learn to love. However, this is not my favorite of the Zeta books mainly because the ending is a bit too tame for my tastes. Also, Morgan spent a lot of the story being very afraid, too afraid really, and then suddenly she becomes rather unrealistically brave. Despite that, I am still definitely already looking forward to the next addition to the series!Tags : Dark Hunter (A Zeta Cartel Novel Book 4) - Kindle edition by AJ Adams. Dark Hunter A Zeta Cartel Novel Book 4 edition by AJ Adams Romance eBooks Reviews
I have read all the books in the series but this is not the best. Don't get me wrong, I liked it however, it still felt like a woman was narating both characters. Another thing that I did not recognised is that the other characters form previous books did not seem the same Arthuro, Kyle, Solitaire etc. And what was with the ' ohmigod' that both males and femails were saying it. A badass m*er does NOT says somethig like that ever. Not Arthuro and especially not Rip.
AJ Adams has done it again. She's taken me into a dark and fearsome world, peopled with some of the most dangerous characters imaginable, and not only did I enjoy it, I was rooting for the serial killer!
As with most of Ms. Adams' books, despite the darkness, there is an oddly hopeful light cast on the plot, and I couldn't help but cheer Rip on as he rediscovers his humanity...or does he. ;-) A serial killer is an unlikely hero, but his story/character arc works. I got a taste of his descent into darkness, and his return toward light is beautifully crafted and utterly believable.
The heroine is similarly well-crafted. She's quite different than a lot of the other females in the Zeta Cartel books. Not quite so hands-on badass, yet she is definitely strong in her own way. She endures much grief and abuse, and while she turns to Rip for security, she does so out of a instinct for survival that trumps any attempt to end her life. She knows the score, and does what she needs to do to survive.
Again, the story arc on Dark Hunter is well-paced, and totally on point. I was able to submerse myself in the world of the Zetas with little to no cause to pop out of it, except when work was calling, or you know, the need to sleep.
This is definitely R to X rated, due to graphic violence and dubious consent, as well as coarse language. Not for the faint of heart. There is doubtless plenty of trigger material, so readers beware.
A very dark start followed by adventure and a growing relationship between Rip and Morgan.
If you are a fan of this authors other cartel books, you will love this book as well.
I've been up all night reading this well written story with characters you will cheer for as well as old friends you will recognize from the Zeta cartel.
She has written another awesome dark romance between less than perfect people (unless perfect monster counts?) who experience some of life's most difficult situations only to get past the dark and find each other and even happiness too. Dark, twisty, surprising and tantalizing!
This is the 4th in the Zeta Cartel series. It can be read as a stand alone but there are characters from other books and I am glad I have read them all (it was really cool to see Kyle, the "hero" from The Bonus, from a new perspective). It brings together Rip, ostensibly a serial killer, and Morgan, an escapee from the Zeta's rival cartel. Rip was once a normal, even privileged young man who lost his family in one fell swoop due to a ridiculously greedy act of another, and Morgan (AKA Isabella) who left the cartel she grew up in to lead a "normal" life only to be excluded by the normal people she wanted to be like. After a series of egregious retaliatory reactions from an ex, Morgan is found very badly beaten and injured by Rip, who had traded asylum with Arturo in exchange for working on contract for the Zeta cartel. Rip's experiences since losing his family have turned him into a cold and calculating assassin who others find difficult to be around.....he's very attractive, but the cold bleeds through every time, which is making it difficult for him to settle in. So when he stumbles onto Morgan, he sees taking care of her as an opportunity to seem slightly more human and less like the monster he knows himself to be.
The story leads us through Rip's "job" for the Zeta's, how it intertwines with Morgan's past, showcases his "hunting" skills and to 2 people, seemingly opposite, yet perhaps not so much, who begin to care for each other and even change in ways that aren't truly change but bringing them at least partially back to who they used to be before fate interfered. As always, I find the writing smart, informed on current events and other current "stuff". I love this series!!
I have loved everything AJ Adams has written - have read every book multiple times....Dark Hunter will be no exception!
PS If you haven't already, read The Degas Girl (love, love this book), Deliverance (awesome and relevant, plus related lightly to The Bonus), and the Prydain series!
